PRICE QUALITY GUIDE

Seventy percent off what, exactly?

A dramatic markdown percentage means little until the comparison price reflects what people recently paid for the same item.

List price is a reference, not a verdict

A manufacturer suggested price may be legitimate, but some products routinely sell below it. Comparing a sale only with MSRP can make an ordinary price look exceptional.

Street price is the stronger baseline

A realistic street price uses recent credible selling prices for the identical configuration. It should account for normal promotions without treating a brief pricing mistake as the everyday value.

Variants can erase the discount

A tool-only listing is not comparable to a kit with batteries. A one-pack is not comparable to a three-pack. Exact model, generation, capacity, size and condition must agree.

Total cost still matters

Shipping, membership requirements, mandatory accessories and travel distance can turn the lowest sticker price into the worse purchase. A useful ranking keeps those frictions visible.
